Introduction
The simulation training day is provided by Barts Health Simulation Centre and serves as preparation for your future F1 role and has the following aims:
• Consolidate acute care skills
• Translate theoretical knowledge into practical transferable skills
• Practice managing medical emergencies through simulation
• Introduce the concept of crisis resource management

- Station 1: Intravenous Infusions

- Demonstrate the correct procedure for piercing fluid bag.
- Demonstrate the correct procedure for running through fluid.
- Demonstrate the correct procedure for eliminating air.
- Demonstrate the correct procedure for connection & securing to cannula.
- Demonstrate the correct procedure for use of pressure bag.
- Demonstrate the correct procedure for adding drugs to fluid & use of additive labels.
- Demonstrate the correct procedure for delivering more than 1 infusion via same cannula (compatibility, pH)
